  • Harley Ellis Devereaux served as the architectural and engineering members of the Design/Build team that delivered this public library and recreation center for the City of San Diego.
  • The project included a 10,000sf gymnasium facility and was sited in a 30-acre municipal park and surrounded by athletic fields.
  • Community buildings include a 10,200 sq. ft. gymnasium/recreation.
  • Facilities Joint Project features 30 acres of municipal park with children’s play areas, off leash dog park, two softball fields (one lighted) two soccer fields, a multipurpose field, shaded picnic tables, barbeque pits, an exercise circuit, outdoor basketball, and a comfort station.
  • The overall theme was “to celebrate the natural environment of the site and the technology of the local business community” in both the architecture and the park.
  • The library provides program areas for: adult reading areas, a teen area, a juvenile and early childhood area, a homework center, group study and tutoring spaces, a 40–seat community room and all the related supporting function areas.
  • The North University Community Branch Library was certified at the LEED Silver level.
  • Community buildings include a 16,100 sq. ft branch library.
