East Tower

  • Multipurpose. Designed as the new image and front door to the hospital, the East Tower includes eighty-two new beds, a new state-of-the-art surgical department, comprehensive cardiovascular services and retail and registration functions.

  • Design elements utilize evidence-based design solutions, such as infection reduction, promotion of family involvement, and patient access to nature.
  • The tower is shaped as a simple 100’ x 300’ rectangle, to provide inherent flexibility, a larger core support area and maximum amount of private rooms.
  • The first floor, along with the new hospital entry, includes a café, gift shop, relocated pre-surgical testing, outpatient cardiovascular services and registration.
  • Patient rooms are larger than typical to be acuity adaptable and increase satisfaction by patients, family and staff.
  • The design of the patient floors advances concepts of decentralized nursing care and incorporates new technologies and paperless charting.
  • The surgical floor provides eleven new surgical rooms and appropriate preparation and recovery space as well as new surgical support spaces increasing operational efficiency. New operating rooms feature flat-screen, high-definition television monitors and touch-screen display panels.
  • With an abundance of natural light, the South Concourse serves as a welcoming path to the comprehensive cardiovascular services area.
  • Cardiac rehabilitation services involve monitored exercise, nutritional counseling, emotional support, and support and education about lifestyle changes to reduce risks of heart problems.
  • The chapel provides a quiet place for moments of respite. The neutral finishes and soft lighting contribute to the calm atmosphere.
