Services: Architectural, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Services
Project Description: The Crane Country Day School is an independent coeducational day school serving grades pre-first through eighth, located on approximately 11 acres in Santa Barbara, California. Harley Ellis Devereaux was hired by Crane to develop a Master Plan; evaluating site conditions; documenting current usage and the potential for future growth. As a living document, the Master Plan will continue to develop, the culture of Crane supported by the architectural style, the scale of the buildings, the relationship of indoors to outdoors and the way students and teachers experience the space. Their Master Plan serves as the beginning of a roadmap to guide decision-making as upgrades to existing buildings or the addition of new buildings is deemed necessary. Harley Ellis Devereaux completed the first phase of projects which is a library and arts building. The project focused on providing an environment bathed in natural sunlight. The art classroom was designed to have access and direct relationship to the outdoor courtyard with library and classroom space spilling out into the exterior space.
