Bernardin Manor Apartments Senior Center & Nutrition Site

Calumet City, Illinois

Catholic Charities Housing Development Corp.

  • The nutrition center includes a congregate dining room, complete with a kitchen to serve the elderly in the community through both an on-site lunch program and Meals on Wheels delivery service for those individuals with limited mobility.

  • The Manor consists of 181 one-bedroom apartments. With the goal of creating a strong residential character and sense of community, the facility follows a traditional style with masonry materials, pitched roofs, unit bays and French balconies.
  • The design successfully integrates the Senior Center by placing it between the two residential wings where it functions as the main hub of activities for both visitors and residents.
  • Activity areas include a large community room, garden/craft room, salon, recreation space, private dining room, and a wellness suite for visiting physicians.
  • With a heavily landscaped setting, Bernardin Manor blends nicely into its surrounding residential neighborhood.
