When Wentworth Commons opened its doors in 2005, it set a new standard for design excellence for affordable and special needs housing. Wentworth Commons demonstrated that high performance and environmental friendliness could be delivered on a shoestring budget. This was further vaildated by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) when it became the first multi-unit residential building to receive LEED certification in the Midwest.
Wentworth Commons also symbolizes Mercy Housing Lakefront's expanding mission to serve families as well as individuals and has been honored by Mercy Housing Lakefront with the Partners in Innovation Award in celebration of the building's 10 Year Anniversary.
Harley Ellis Devereaux provided architecture, interior design, planning and sustainable design services.
