On February 1, Team X presented their proposal for the redesign of Chicago’s Navy Pier. Navy Pier is Chicago’s most popular public space and will receive a facelift in time for its centennial celebration.
Harley Ellis Devereaux is a member of Team X that also includes Xavier Vendrell Studio, dataAE + XVS, Grimshaw Architects, Faithful Gould, Studio/lab, Lisa Freiman, Creative Time, Inigo Manglano-Ovalle, Site Design Group, ARUP, Schuler Shook, Nelson Nygaard, Fluidity, PORT A + U, Play-time, and Richie Gelles.
The principle that inspired Team X is the notion that Navy Pier is, first and foremost, a Pier and Chicago’s only Pier. Team X sought to respect, reveal, and amplify the physical and experiential qualities of Navy Pier and to make it an unrivaled destination that is unique in its own right.
