Program Learning: Using Learning Assessment Findings to Foster Innovation

Presented by: Robert Pacheco, Assessment Chair, RP Group

Convened by: Gregory Blackburn, Design Studio Leader | Higher Education, Harley Ellis Devereaux

Learning assessment has traditionally looked at findings through a historical lens, examining evidence against best practices. While this is valuable work, how can we use data to look forward? How do we develop an innovative culture—one that analyzes problems, generates new ideas, and evaluates creative solutions? We will walk you through design-inspired approaches that help your team look at learning in new ways, creating an institutional culture that routinely innovates. The output will be a collection of ideas to solve your most pressing learning challenges.

Learning Outcome(s):

1.Probe learning assessment data and use collaborative inquiry to determine the story the data tells.
2.Ideate solutions that close the learning gaps you identified from the data analysis.
3.Brainstorm ways to create and foster a culture of innovation in learning.
4.Bring to life new ideas to improve learning at your institution.
