Dennis M. King, FAIA, FESD, LEED AP, Corporate Operations Officer for Harley Ellis Devereaux, presented “Merger Lessons from the School of Hard Knocks” at the December 2011 ZweigWhite Architecture/Engineering/Construction (AEC) Merger and Acquisition Summit in Palm Beach, Florida.
King’s presentation outlined the evolution of Harley Ellis Devereaux, from their Detroit beginnings in 1908, through the prosperous post-World War II era, and into the more recent period of growth and geographic expansion. Many lessons were learned along the way and King shared those insights with the audience.
“Our current strategy is to expand geographically through mergers and acquisitions, in order to take better advantage of other regions growing more vigorously,” said King. “It allows us to better leverage our design expertise and ultimately provide a higher level of service to a broader range of clients.”
